Beginning her career as an illustrator in Washington, DC, Kathy worked as a technical illustrator for government contracting firms doing isometric drawings, exploded views and cutaways for military equipment and satellites. Later she worked for publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Mosby and Brady Books illustrating over fifty medical, nursing  texts, safety, first aid and emergency rescue books. After moving to New York City, she illustrated several college level scientific textbooks and animated interactive designs for museums, working closely with authors and scientists to translate difficult concepts. At the same time she illustrated over a dozen interactive educational DVDs and games winning several awards for design excellence. Today Kathy splits her time between freelance custom illustration and creating stock illustrations for iStockPhoto.com

Exclusive illustrator for the leading microstock illustration and photography agency iStockPhoto, a division of Getty Images. Created over 4,400 original vector stock illustrations and icon sets over the past ten years. In addition to working for iStock Kathy freelances doing custom “work for hire” illustrations for many different clients such as Adams Media Publishers and IChemlabs software publisher.

RXMedia, Inc - Graphic Designer and Illustrator

Designed in-house print materials for Pfizer and provided interactive graphics for their trade shows and events. Designed educational materials for doctors and created logos and icons to brand various Pfizer initiative groups. Created brochures and handbooks for Pfizer's recruitment and financial divisions, internship program and a promotional handbook for their printing plant in Rye, New York.

Designed educational materials for Pfizer and Novartis pharmaceutical corporations. Designed training aids and laptop presentations for pharmaceutical sales representatives. Designed web sites, CD-ROMs, kiosks and provided creative direction for proposals.

The American Museum of Natural History - Illustrator

Researched scientific topics and worked with scientists and museum staff to create highly interactive educational web sites such as "Reading the Rocks" featuring a rock database and virtual classroom laboratories used by high school students to study geological rocks. Illustrated and developed the interfaces for web sites that explore life surrounding the deep-sea thermal vents including eduactional games like “How Deep is Deep.”

Illustrated, animated and designed interfaces for educational games and corporate DVDs. Won awards for "Ocean Voyager", an educational game sponsored by Time Warner for the Smithsonian Institution that taught players about the ecology of the oceans.
